Mark Krieger graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art. After teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Texas at Austin, Krieger returned to Cleveland where he became an artist in residence at the University School in Shaker Heights.
He begins to describe his work by saying, “Words are no substitute for pictures, but a glance at these two images may confirm what your humble servant has suspected for years – that I [he] was born into the wrong century.” He is drawn to the Renaissance period, to when artists were craftsmen, enhancing life with a skill and vision applied to the needs of the times. His abstract paintings and drawings serve as a source of constant involvement. Krieger states, “Along the way many things have been created, all exciting and enjoyable to make and occasionally, I hope, beautiful for others to see.”
